WHAT’S YOUR HAIR TYPE?
WAVY HAIR
Wavy hair tends to be coarse with waves that form throughout
the hair in the shape of a defined "S" pattern and lays flat against
the scalp with little bounce back.
There are various types of wavy hair types; fine and thin, medium-textured
and thick and coarse. Fine and thin wavy hair is easy to handle while medium-textured
and thick and coarse wavy hair are more resistant when styling and have a tendency
to frizz.
CURLY HAIR
Curly hair consists of a combination of textures and the crown
is the typically the curliest part. It has a distinctive "S" pattern
that most people mistake to be coarse but it is usually very fine with a lot of
body and soft in texture. Curly hair doesn’t have a smooth surface and doesn’t
lay flat like wavy hair. Although wet, curly hair will usually straighten out,
as it dries and absorbs water, the hair contracts to its curliest state, tending
to have less shine than seen in wavy and straight hair types.
COILED HAIR
The most fragile of all curly hair types, coiled hair will
be soft to the touch with visible sheen, but presents little to no shine. Its
fragility exists because it has fewer cuticle layers and less natural protection
from the damage inflicted by basic styling to include combing, brushing, blow-drying
and straightening the hair. Coiled, kinky or very tight curl hair types has a
“Z” pattern and is very wiry and fragile with the appearance of being
coarse and tough.
